English only rule revisited

This study examines one ESL teacher's practice
of an English only rule. Using qualitative data, it demonstrates how genuine opportunities
to communicate were generated because of the English only rule and how these opportunities
involved the teacher and the students collaboratively achieving a more precise understanding
of issues at hand.
Following the presentation, there will be an informal get-together.
Reiko Mori teaches part-time at ID Foreign Language Institute and at Kagoshima
Prefectural Jr. College since April. She is a doctoral student at Teachers College,
Columbia University in New York.
