peer evaluation valuable? Should peers critically judge students' work? Is "the
expert teacher" always right or do "the people" know what they want?
This workshop is based an English web site contest for students at Aso Foreign Language
and Travel College. The students' peers and visitors ,"the Peer Judge",
evaluated the web sites via an on-line submission page. Also, comments were e-mailed
to students. Two experienced Internet teachers, "Expert Judges", also participated.
Analysis of the data revealed a significant opinion gap, raising questions about
the direction of peer evaluation.
Workshop participates will evaluate the web sites. Then the data set from the actual
contest will be examined. Discussion will be about: What is the aim of peer evaluation?
Who is right, "the expert" or "the people"?
(You can see the contest web site.)
